The Metamorphosis Man |
Once upon a time there lived a man who lived long before you or any of your relatives walked the earth, his name was Morgan. There also lived a water god who had the power to turn into any animal or any other form he desired. Morgan did not believe in this legend but as it was based in the River Ewenny, which was by his house, he decided he would take a look anyway. As Morgan set off down towards the river he passed fields with a texture of gold and brown due to the colour of the corn. He passed his house and stopped to look at the well cut grass and the hay with his black ageing pitch-fork nestling on top. Eventually he reached the river and there in the centre of the river was a cod that turned, right in front of his eyes, into a shrimp, which was unusual for a river, and then into the original form of the water god. The water god had baby blue eyes, even though he was over a thousand years old. Everywhere you looked on his face wrinkles overwhelmed that wizened face. |
Morgan played along to the legend and tried to claim the powers they argued many moons over the powers and one day Morgan had just finished gathering the hay with his pitch-fork when he had a thought. “Hand over the powers or I will thrust this trident through your neck!” bellowed Morgan “You wouldn’t dare,” snarled the water god. “Just watch me,” taunted Morgan. With that he hurled the trident into his neck. Slowly the defeated water god sank to the base of the river with the fork embedded in his neck. A few hours later he sat down on a tree stump to find that he had a tail over the next few moments he transformed into a dog. For some reason he had always hated dogs he was now because he had killed the water god. Days later he was in the market place and on the wind he heard, ‘beware of the witch that cries in ancient Welsh. He saw a woman, a witch, “mochyn twp.” He knew at once he had been cursed. To this day if you see a mad dog barking its head off it will be Morgan. |
